November Gratitude Stone 18 God Loves Me

Zeph 3:17 The LORD your God is in your midst, a mighty one who will save; he will rejoice over you with gladness; he will quiet you by his love; he will exult over you with loud singing.

The word picture of this reminds me of Jim with Emily when she was born. He was over the moon with love for his baby girl. Similarly, I remember how quietly and how lovingly he promoted Clayton’s soccer abilities to the coaches when he was trying out for Fullerton Rangers. He was so proud to be a dad and he loved whatever they were doing. I also think about when kids are on the platform performing in church or a play at school; all the parents and grandparents crane their necks for a glimpse of their kid on the stage, waving and snapping pictures as if there were no other kids on the stage. That is exactly the kind of love that God has for me! He does not do me good out of some constraint or coercion. Because of His great love, God overflows in joy to do me good. He exults over me with loud singing. Wow!  That is an overwhelming thought! I can only imagine what it would be like if I could hear God singing? Remember that it was merely a spoken word that brought the universe into existence. What would happen if God lifted up his voice and not only spoke but sang! And then I stand humbled, dumbfounded, staggered, speechless that he is singing over me. He is rejoicing over my good with all his heart and with all his soul. What a wonder that the Lord, the King of kings, rejoices over me with gladness and exults over me with loud singing.

I am unworthy but grateful beyond measure.
