Twenty-Seven
My Daughter in Love has a birthday today. When I consider the short years I have known her and the depth of relationship and love in that same short season I am humbled at how much more it will be. This girl is stunning inside and out. She is smart and kind. She loves well. She is intentional and determined. I love having an upfront seat to watching my kids and their spouses live in relationship with each other, God and others. What a privilege.
Dear Amanda,
I wanted to take a moment to tell you how incredibly blessed I am to have you as my daughter-in-love. I am so happy to celebrate you today on your 27th birthday. Just as I said to you and Clayton on your wedding day that it would be the day you love each other the least, as your love would continue to increase, so it is true for me as well. My love for you is so much more. Watching you grow in your marriage and friendships has been a joy. I will always be in your corner, ready to support you and be helpful. I pray for you daily and I love the friendship I have also gained with your mom and sisters.
Bonds between mother and daughter in laws can be tricky. I never enjoyed such a relationship but always imagined that I would love for it to be similar to the relationship that Ruth and Naomi enjoyed. There is a tightrope that both MIL and DIL both walk; I never want to overstep and I also don’t want to make you feel that I am not involved enough. Hopefully I am managing okay so far and please forgive my missteps! I love you and I look forward to many years of growing our relationship into a friendship.
On this day, I want to again tell you how much I love you, my door is always open to you and my heart is for you for all the ups and downs of life.
Happy Birthday sweet girl!
Love, Miriam
