46 years later…

August 23, 2026 0 By Mirm

August 23, 1980, changed the trajectory of my life. There are many days before and since that also impacted the person I am.  Today I am reflecting on this one day when I promised I would go through life with one other person… Jim Mohler.

Still after 46 years, Jim is my the one I want to tell you about, brag about, and is always on my mind. He is still loved beyond all measure. He is missed beyond words can say. He is not here anymore, but there is still the residue of his presence all around. It shows up in the most random times like a comforting breeze. I think that it is a kindness from a loving God who continues to use Jim as a warm and gentle hug. It is always welcome. The reality of grief is much harder than I ever could have imagined and I long for the day when it is gone. Until then I will softly miss Jim and pray for countless others who also carry on in spite of the storms of grief they too face.

Dear Jim,

I am grateful for the life we shared and the family we created. I am in awe that God chose to use us in ministry together and I am still humbled that together we were trusted with the lives of such precious kids, families and students. Life is so meaningful because of the relationships we built and I love this life because of the care and intentionality with which we invested in it.

Our kids are amazing adults; you would be so proud of the people they have become. You would love Connor and Amanda so much. I can’t wait for you to know them in heaven.

We have a grandson now. You would love that! And he carries your name, which speaks to the lingering whisper, the profound impact you made that echoes on in our family

I love you and am so glad brought us together for this life. Because it is so blessed, just imagine how good the next one He has planned will be. Wow!

Love, the one who loved you all the days of your life,
