Ode to Jimbo on his 2nd heavenly Birthday

November 5, 2012 0 By Mirm

2 years ago I tried to create a eulogy using one of Jim’s favorite stories, but it was just not right at the time.  I worked on it for the 2nd anniversary of his death.  I have a new appreciation for poets and I still have a broken place in my heart!

It is weird how the worst day of my life contains the holiest moment – when Jesus himself came into our family room and carried Jim home.

Green Eggs and Spam – with apologies to Dr Suess

I am Mirm
Mirm, I am

My Jim is gone My Jim is gone!
I do not like that Jim is gone

Do you like  goodbyes & Death?

I do not like it,
not one tiny bit.
I do not like
goodbyes and death.

2 years ago I lost my mate
God still redeems
Yet I know we both wait
Praise is my theme
I do not like
goodbyes and death
I do not like
That one last breath

Jim waits on the porch with tea
When there we meet we’ll both be free.

I miss Jim
in the house.
I miss Jim
as my spouse.
Thanks I am
for all the prayer.
I do feel blessed by

Others’ care.
I do not like goodbyes and death.
I do miss Jim my best best friend.

30 years as husband and wife
Truly t’was an amazing life

On the mend.
Hugs and friends.
Tears and Joy
Hope is a buoy
Just hold my hand

I do not like
goodbyes and death
I do not like
That one last breath
Emily paints! Emily Sings!
grieves in color
Cries long! Hates Cancer.
Lives for the King and misses her mentor.

She will heal.
You see him.
She has his zeal
reflecting Jim.
We wait for heaven our true home

In between, Jesus Be our Shalom
I do not like
goodbyes and death
I do not like
That one last breath

A pastor! A teacher!
A Mentor! A Father!
So many knew him, tightly holding our son and daughter.
Missing the pastor! Missing the friend!
Missing their dad! Praying they’ll mend!

Say!
Clayton’s sad
It ‘s really no wonder
My son is somber
Misses his dad I so often ponder.

On the field; with the team.
Studies hard, and has Jim’s gleam.
Making music and lots of laughter
He too wants a happy ever after.

Of his Kids Jim was proud

He thought of them with head bowed.
Like their dad they are full of magic

Shining bright through something this tragic.

I do not like
goodbyes and death
I do not like
That one last breath

Others say God won’t,
that he don’t?

“Not more than I can manage”-
it’s just not true.
Lean into Jesus – a much better adage.
Letting Him calm me, instead of the storm.
Trusting in Jesus is becoming the norm

I do not like
goodbyes and death
I do not like
That one last breath

You do not like them.
SO you say.
There is mercy! There is grace!
Lean hard
and keep trust in His face.

Say!
You can help me,
As I hold on.
Shaded daily.

Say!
I miss Jim everyday!
And yet I know what he would say!
“Live Loud! Play to Win!
Give it your all
Never give in.
Know the Word. Heed the Call.
Jesus still wants us to be free.
God is so good, so good you see!”

So I will praise God every day.
And I will yet hope, come what may.
And I will worship God my savior.
And I will watch Jesus open the door.
And I will yet sing with my spouse.
Say! I will live in God’s House!

I do so like
that God has a plan!
Thank you!
Thank you,
Someday he will take my hand!
