November Gratitude Stone 13 Jesus
2 Cor. 9:15 Thanks be to God for His indescribable gift! Christ himself, the only begotten Son of God, the fulfillment of the covenant, the head of the church, the Savior, the sacrificial lamb. There is no greater gift; in fact no one can tell how great this gift is, which is so large and incomprehensible.
- Jesus is a gift! Given freely. Nothing we can do to deserve or earn this gift.
- Jesus is indescribable. We will never get to the end of this theme. I think about the end of the poem, One Solitary Life, when it says 19 long centuries have come and gone and today He (Jesus) is still the central figure of the human race and that no one has affected the life of man on this earth as powerfully as that one solitary life.
- Thanks to God – love so amazing, so divine, demands my life, my all.
How do we even begin to express our thankfulness? We put our whole weight down and lean in. We give Him all the glory. We walk in a manner worthy of him in all we do. We bow down in worship. We believe and live by faith. We trust and obey. This is the consequence or the response to the grace given rather than the repayment. We can never repay God for a gift of Jesus/salvation any more than we would ever think about paying someone for a gift they gave us! It would no longer be a gift, but a commodity! Besides, there is nothing we could ever do that would be enough to pay back our debt for what Christ did for us! Furthermore, Christ is not done doing for us. He continues to work in us, to forgive, to change, to heal, to correct, and to grow us.
Thank you for the gift of Jesus. Help me to respond to your amazing grace as I trust and obey.
