November Gratitude Stone 21 Treasures in Heaven
Some might think that I am considering about the verse about treasures that says,”Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal, but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal.” (Matt.6:19,20). And yes, I do think that this is an importance stone of remembrance; however, I am referring to the great cloud of witnesses (Heb 12:1), who are cheering me on to win the race. For me that list is growing every day, but thinking gratefully about my memories, makes them happier. Thanking God for Jim and the time we had together here, pushes me to finish well and look forward to the finish line, where he will be ready to greet me. I long to hear the Lord exclaim, “Well Done!”
While my memories are not set in stone and they do change over time, they are transformed through gratitude. For example, while it hurts to remember Jim because he is not here, most of our memories of him are happy ones. We just are sad that he is gone and cannot make any more memories with us. He was an amazing human being who reflected the Light of the world. And yet, I am not denying that sometimes he was a pain in the butt and we didn’t always get along. But I choose to make my memories happier by being thankful that I have the memories, knowing that God always works things out for my best interest and his greatest glory. Not only that, he did the same for Jim. Most importantly for me, I was blessed to know and love the man!
My treasure is in heaven and so is my treasured one, with whom I made many memories and who is cheering me on.
Thank you for the memories. Thank you for the life. Thank you for the chance to one day open the door to heaven where my treasures wait.
