November Gratitude E. Stone 8 Today
Ps 118:24 This is the day which the Lord hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.
Ps 92:1,2 It is good to praise the Lord
and make music to your name, O Most High,
proclaiming your love in the morning
and your faithfulness at night,
1 Chr. 23:30 They were also to stand every morning to thank and praise the Lord. They were to do the same in the evening
Being thankful as a habit is one thing, but learning to have the attitude of gratitude on a daily basis is like breathing. Without it, we die. When the kids were little we often sang the Thankfulness Song from Veggie Tales’ Madame Blueberry:
I thank God for this day,
For the sun in the sky,
For my mom and my dad,
For my piece of apple pie!
For our home on the ground,
For His love that’s all around,
That’s why I say thanks every day!
Because a thankful heart is a happy heart
I’m glad for what I have,
That’s an easy way to start!
For the love that He shares,
‘Cause He listens to my prayers,
That’s why I say thanks every day!
Learning to love God in the morning when I see the sun arisin’ and in the evening because He took me through the day (John Fischer – All Day Song), forces me to live in the present and to have a thankful heart, without taking life for granted and without entitlement. This is a remembrance stone that needs to be laid daily.
So today I thank you for your grace that I breathe in and thank you for the privilege of exhaling it to others. And I thank for Jim’s life which goes on forever in heaven’s fresh air.
