My Friend

Dear Lauren,

I don’t remember when we first met. I don’t remember much about how we even became friends, but I am sure it was our boys’ faults. (Thank you to Skyler and Clayton). None of that really matters anyway because you have become one of my best friends and have even morphed into being family.

Today, on your birthday, I celebrate with so many the treasure that is Lauren. I am blessed by your creativity, your honesty, your generosity, your thoughtfulness, your huge heart, and your constant friendship. I am not even sure you are aware of what a good friend you are. You consistently listen without judgment, advise wisely, laugh generously and love proudly. You give and share and encourage and help and make the world a better place.

I am grateful that you found your way into my life and I thank God for your part in helping me navigate this earthly journey. I think everyone needs a friend like you. You find hope in people where nobody would ever think of looking, and you keep fighting when any normal person would have given up a long time ago. You find a reason to believe in people even when they do not believe in themselves.

Thank you for being a reflection of Jesus and for being my person. I love you and hope you have a Happy Birthday as you hug your grandbabies!
